Health Policy and Management

Health Policy and Management is a multidisciplinary field concerned with the delivery, quality, and costs of health care for individuals and populations. Students who concentrate in health policy and management are trained in a variety of subjects including the complex structures of health care delivery in the U.S., legal and ethical foundations for health care, as well as policy processes designed to improve health care access among diverse populations. We offer programs in Master of Public Health and Master of Health Administration as well as a PhD in Health Services Research.

Faculty and Research

The faculty within the department represent a wide array of disciplines, expertise and interests. The departmental members come from backgrounds in public health, political science, urban planning, ecological psychology, law, management, medicine, economics and data science. Collectively they have conducted numerous policy or management related projects that include assessments of local health care infrastructures, national studies of the quality of health care services, critical access hospitals, long-term care policies, Medicaid, managed care and court mandated access.
